| New article online! |
 |
Thanks to Tjitte 'OldFart' de Wolff we've got a new article available in our articles section. It details "A different view about customising the Amiga OS with respect to its functioning" which is basically a way of keeping your OS installs clean and tidy with all the other addon's seperate.
It is a very interesting read and concept, I hope you like it!
Anyone else wanting to have an article on here please just use the contact page and get in touch!

After about a week of downtime we are back up and running. Unfortunatly I forgot to renew the domain so it took some time for me to realise and get it renewed again.
Needless to say we are back up and in business.
In other news I've just received a Sam Flex so I'm back in the game!
Anyone wishing to give us a little christmas donation please do, we would be very greatful for anything given.
Merry Christmas everyone

| AmiWest Stream |
 |
I would like to take this oppertunity to thank all those that used the stream to view this years AmiWest and I woul also like to apologise for the loss of the server. It seems no matter how much testing you do, things can still go pear shaped just when you don't want them too :-)
Interestingly our peak this year was 88 viewers, so not quite the 100 I wanted, maybe next year.
Since the service is free and I managed to secure free bandwidth for the weekend I would like to make a donation to my hosting provider, so if anyone would like to contribute to the fund please do so by using the donate button to the left.
On a slightly off topic note, if anyone has and is selling a Sam 440EP, esspecially if it is in a Relec The Red one case please let me know. I am seriously considering taking out a loan to get back into Amiga OS4.x
Thanks Everyone!
Regards
Darren aka Ryu

This years show should be the best yet with a fantastic guest list.
This years video feed should be even better still with a video toaster in the mix doing video switching and titling.
Make sure you all tune in on http://stream.ziaspace.com:8000
For those that cant view the feed there will also be an audio feed from Bill
A schedule is yet to be confirmed but we hope to have the keynote speech broadcast along with all the other cool things going on over the weekend.

| New Amiga Announced - The X1000 |
 |
FINALLY! A NEW HIGH END AMIGA COMPUTER! - THE WAIT IS OVER!
At the start of this journey, we posed the question 'what is X?' The answer is that X is many things. X is the Xena/XMOS chip, and the Xorro slot that accompanies it. X is the mystery CPU, and above all, X is the AmigaOne X1000, the new complete desktop computer system from A-EON.
It's almost 25 years since Commodore released the A1000 model that launched the line in the summer of 1985, and with the launch of the X1000 we will usher in a new beginning for the AmigaOS platform. Just as Commodore did with the A1000, we're aiming at the high-end first, with a powerful desktop computer aimed at the professional and serious hobbyist markets (although you won't have to wait until summer, and it should be a little cheaper!) The launch of the A1000 offered something new, and the X1000 will do the same. The world has moved on and custom chips no longer make much sense, but the X1000 offers a customisable chip as standard instead - 'Xena'.
Thanks to Xena and the Xorro interface, the X1000 offers extraordinary flexibility. We believe that with this easy gateway to the world of 'Software Defined Silicon' and a path to massive parallelism, the X1000 will once more make the AmigaOS platform the best choice for truly creative and unique applications. For custom hardware control from robotics to theatrical lighting, for hobbyist creativity, for hardware hacking and for a multitude of applications we haven't even imagined yet, the X1000 is a dream platform - and therein lies another meaning of 'X', the unknown. It is you, not us, who will define the future.
Of course that's far from all there is to the X1000. Even if you have no interest in the co-processor concept, the X1000 is by a large margin the most powerful and up-to-date platform for running AmigaOS. With a fast dual-core CPU and a full range of modern interfaces such as PCIe x16, SATA and USB 2.0, the already extremely responsive AmigaOS will at last have a truly high-end platform to run on. While AmigaOS has progressed massively over the last few years (and continues to develop more and more features at an impressive rate), the hardware to run it on has not kept pace. There was a time when we had great hardware as well as a great Operating System, and with the AmigaOne X1000, we can finally say that time is come again. While the entry level is currently well catered for by ACube's SAM motherboard, it is this return of AmigaOS to the high-end that truly ushers in a new beginning.

| Site update |
 |
Hey guys, thought you might appreciate a "where we are at" update:
The site is pretty much static nowadays, I've enjoyed hosting the AmiWest video stream again this year, and enjoyed being able to host video's for you guys but apart from that I can't see any further updates to the site.
However, the domain name has just been purchased for another year, and my hosting is still sorted, although I could do with some donations to put toward it. I've not received any donations for months, although if I am honest I don't blame you guys, there are much more worthy causes out there...
Having said that, I would still like to bring the site more upto date, I just don't have the time. So if anyone out there has spare time and wants to join with me and get the site moving please drop me a line.
So in summary, the site will be here for at least another 12 months and I will try to continue to support the Amiga scene anyway I can.
Thanks to all those who still find my site usefull, please dontate if you can.
Warmest Regards
Darren "Ryu" Glenn

Brussels, Belgium – October 17, 2009
Hyperion Entertainment CVBA is pleased to announce that on September 30, 2009, it has reached a comprehensive settlement agreement with Amiga, Inc., Itec LLC and Amino Development Corporation, Inc., to bring all ongoing litigation and worldwide pending procedures between the parties to an end.
As part of the settlement agreement, the Amiga Parties acknowledge that Hyperion is the sole owner of AmigaOS 4 without prejudice to any third party rights.
Within the framework of the settlement agreement Hyperion is granted an exclusive, perpetual, worldwide right to AmigaOS 3.1 in order to use, develop, modify, commercialize, distribute and market AmigaOS 4.x (and subsequent versions of AmigaOS including without limitation AmigaOS 5) in any form, on any medium and for any current or future hardware platform under the exclusive trademark “AmigaOS” (Amiga operating system) and using other associated trademarks (such as the “BoingBall” logo).
Hyperion will continue development and distribution of AmigaOS 4.x (and beyond) as it has done since November of 2001.
We wish to thank our loyal customers who have supported us throughout the judicial procedures and especially the AmigaOS 4.x development team for their continued efforts and at the request of whom this official announcement was made.
